Position Title: Bookkeeper

Position Overview:
The bookkeeper for the restaurant, lounge and hotel is responsible for overseeing and maintaining accurate financial records for all hospitality operations. This includes daily transaction reconciliation, payroll processing, managing accounts payable and receivable, assisting with budget tracking, and preparing regular financial reports.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate financial records for the restaurant, lounge and hotel, recording all daily sales, revenue, and payment transactions.
- Reconcile cash, debit/credit, POS reports, and bank deposits; prepare monthly financial statements and monitor budget variances.
- Process customer invoices, payments, vendor invoices, and match packing slips; maintain organized records of all transactions and supporting documents.
- Track and follow up on receivables, including hotel bookings and event rentals; process payables and manage orders for supplies.
- Support year-end reporting, audits, financial reviews, and collaborate with external accountants.
- Assist with inventory tracking, cost analysis, and continuously improve financial controls with management.
- File and process payments for PST, GST, Accommodation Tax, and other government reporting requirements.
- Organize and complete month-end reports and resolve discrepancies in financial statements.
- Process bi-weekly payroll, track employee hours, tips, overtime, and manage employee payroll and benefit files.
- Oversee employee group insurance, update payroll for insurance changes, and manage Workers Compensation documentation and payments.
- Monitor daily sales, investigate discrepancies, and ensure accurate POS & payment processing.
- Reconcile gift cards, bank accounts, ATM, holding, lottery, debit/credit, MLCC, WCLC, VLT, and Skip invoices as scheduled.
- Calculate and process monthly royalties, manage petty cash, and handle vending, chip, and drink machine funds and reports.
- Coordinate with payment processing providers and address discrepancies with vendors
- Work closely with the front desk and external organizations on invoicing
- Maintain filing systems, uphold contract requirements, and complete all necessary government documentation and surveys.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or certificate in Accounting, Finance, or Bookkeeping (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 2 years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in hospitality.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive financial information.
Work Environment:
- On-site at restaurant and hotel office.
- Flexible hours may be required to meet reporting deadlines or support management
